For sure. I feel like a lot of requesters are really just looking for white opinions so when there are race screeners in the beginning I definitely expect to get screened out. Some of the time I put black and white in there at the end of the survey (demographics) if they're the kind that allow you to click multiple options but if it's just the option to choose one, I always choose African-American or Black. I guess I figure that since there are some surveys that are only for black people/women, that I luck out that way... But, I don't want to be disingenuous (personally, not a reflection of your choices btw) so I don't ever just choose white, because I have always chosen black.

 

The problem is I'm totally, 100% uninterested and not curious. So the only time I "learn" is when someone rips me a new ash hole for not knowing.

Do you breathe oxygen and have opposable thumbs? We're cool up until I learn you have the qualities I actually care about in a negative aspect: PhD & you study mturk instead of running studies on MTurk.

 

What kind of coffee do you make it with?

 

I've hardly ever been screened out for being black, FWIW, but then again, I don't really do many surveys. It's generally pretty obvious when a survey's going to turn into racebait garbage with that sort of screener and those are safe to return anyway.

This is interesting to me from a platform design perspective.. how often do you run into surveys that list anything in the white/black like.. various shade color range? I'm so fucking sorry I'm not trying to be insensitive see above, the only reason I even notice the gender options is because sometimes they scroll off screen, my only complaint about the race ones is I never know if I'm looking for white or the long c word I wont even attempt to spell so I am legitimately asking if it's a thing that is usually presented as an option in surveys b/c I can't recall a single time seeing it

They'll usually have a "mixed" option or an Other option where you can just write in whatever.
