    I hate to break this to you but an October heat wave is common in the midwest and has been since time immemorial, i.e. my childhood.

    My A/C remains firmly duct-taped into my window.

    It's going to be 97 today. Son is off for Fall break so we're going to go outside and play for a bit before it becomes unbearable. Tomorrow is our break from the heat. It's only going to be 75 degrees. I'm ridiculously excited.

    I have a window unit in my office because it's in an upstairs loft that the central AC doesn't cool very well, but yea I'll pull it out for winter since I'd like to have a window the rest of the year.
