    You don't need the passive cable. If you get the adapter you will just any HDMI cable or if you get an active cable you will obviously just use that.

    The adapter is prob better if you want the option to get a different cable length or re-use it later.

    To answer these:

    1- after about three weeks of no sleep tossing the kid in the bed between us was the way to shut him up so we could actually sleep. I just didn't expect him to do this off the end of the bed:

    2- The guy was brand new and wasn't properly trained. He had a wife and three kids and was really down on his luck because a military equipment plant in a nearby area shut down and he got laid off. Had I reported it he would have gotten fired even though it wasn't really all his fault. Plus anything above $500 in damage was instant termination in the first 90 days (it was going to cost double or triple that to get my teeth fixed). I was the receiving supervisor but I wasn't in charge of equipment training and I had no way of knowing they just tossed him on the equipment with little training...no one bothered to tell me or maybe I could have been more careful. So..even though I am a horrible person this seemed unfair. I'll end up paying for it later in life but hopefully when hell comes a-calling I'll have at least one good deed I can haggle with.
