I think that's fair! I honestly don't think the split/sharing studies on Mturk should be considered experimentally sound; so many more factors are at play that distort the context: as you said, past experiences with other experiments on the platform, the persistent belief that you may be interacting with a bot so why share, the aforementioned belief above that you'll never receive the bonus money, the irrefutable fact that this is a salary for many...blah blah blah. Anyway I have a dumb misguided hope that more sharing might encourage more sharing so I'm sticking with it until I can get the research dollars for a meta-review of the MTurk findings from such studies.

 

Depends on the type of sharing involved. Charity? No. Obvious bot? No.
When it's something like "someone sharing their money so it doubles the pool available", then I shared back.
