Ya know, I don't think you know what saving really means...

 

Same, but not the same...even broke ass people can make idiots of themselves...(referring to myself...)


The other day I was giving a tenant a recipe I love and mentioned buying the "2 cup bag of shredded cheese" and she looked at me like I was a clueless, filthy rich person. Said she can't afford that, but she does buy block cheese and will shred her own.

I felt really guilty for a minute, like I was some entitled, spoiled rich Grinch for buying shredded cheese vs. the cheaper block cheese I have to shred myself then thought, "Eff that. I work two damn jobs so I can splurge an extra $1.50 and avoid having to shred my own cheese and then, gasp, have a shredder I have to wash."

Did make me think about the way I speak about things to some of our tenants, who really are worse off than me, even though I'm not well off. I think they think I am. (vs. your "I don't miss 2K per month " friend really is well off. That could buy me a lot of shredded cheese.)
