I really, really, really tried to fall in love with FO76 like I ended up doing for all the other games. Launch was pretty bad for some, but I was one of the lucky ones and didn't really get most of the major bugs or issues a lot of people complained about at the start. I took my sweet time going through and exploring the map and stuff at the start, it took me a month and half or so just to max out my S.P.E.C.I.A.L and perks and such. By that time, Bethesda was actually really responsive to the community and was starting to put out consistent patches and fixes. I think most people knew NPCs would come eventually and I never really had a gripe with that.

The biggest issue with the game at launch aside from technical issues was there was jack shit in terms of end game content. I played almost entirely solo and without power armor and was able to still roll through anything in the game easily. Then they finally started adding new content and it started really going downhill. Old bugs came back, new bugs were created with each one fixed, and the quests were almost all bugged. My character isn't even that decked out (the loot and drop system is pathetic and bland) and while some if it was kinda fun it was all a joke in terms of challenge.

I had about 300 hours in May when I stopped because I did just about everything and the entire end game is just freakin grinding the same spots over and over and over for better gear. That got even more frustrating because for some reason Bethesda slowly started nerfing an already crap system until even trying to farm gear was absolutely miserable. I tried the Battle Royal for a couple weeks but that got old realllly quick.

I tried to pick it up again when the Vault "raids" came out a couple months ago and omg that was the most poorly implemented content I've ever seen added to a game. I mainly just wanted to explore them and get the lore but nope, you can't do that. The first two tries I had at it, the servers were so unbelievably lagged out, I couldn't even make it halfway through before the timer expired. But the actual "raids" themselves were literally just running around fetching and returning hundreds of junk and that's it. And the loot reward at the end was just a slap in the face.

I haven't looked at the specifics for the subscription thing, I just heard about it yesterday. Big heck no from me. I would gladly pay a subscription if it was a stable game with actual content. It had so much potential. I really like the in game world, the map is great and Appalachia was an excellent choice. Greedy ashholes though really needed to delay the release of the game for at least 6-8 months and put out a complete game from the get go. Now with a subscription fee there's probably no chance I'll even try to pick it up again. I don't mind the atom shop concept at all either, but they also really screwed up making it way too hard to collect them in game and then even had the audacity in the Spring to make it even harder to get them.
