Oh jeez. I can sympathize with that. Our house was built in 1854 and has moved so much and dipped so much that it broke at least a dozen windows over the years and we have added so many screw jacks and concrete to the basement to take care of the dips and low spots. We're going on 12 years at our place and the middle sag was the craziest. Used to roll tennis balls for our dog and it would sometimes roll back to you before getting to the dog. At one point our downstairs bathroom toilet leaned so badly it was an adventure to use it. Sending you some good vibes on jacking it up. Best advice would be to make sure contractor has considered windows, look for ANY cracks in drywall before you start lifting and have a bunch of spackle on hand.

didn't prolific start or spread that lie that bots were taking surveys on mturk? my hourly rate has been lowered on surveys in general because of the captcha's, other anti-bot things that have been added since then. I saw one researcher's post that implied that people who answered questions in such a way that they were republicans were bots so the data shouldn't be used.

I was enjoying this one, until (my bad) I failed my own "attention check", where I pause to make sure I'm not blindly assuming the bubbles are in left-to-right order. — In this case, my bad, I was inattentively assuming that, and wrongly. The bubbles were in right-to-left order (e.g. "strongly agree" on the LEFT not the right, etc.). — Fortunately, I soon noticed my mistakes, but unfortunately too late to fix any errors on previous pages. ... My bad. Returned without complaint.

 

He's just looking for respondents in the vanishingly slim intersection on the venn diagram for "too dull to immediately grasp a study's manipulation" and "not so dull as to be unable to pass likert attention checks." Also, I suppose there's a "willing to work for $4/hr" circle intersecting on that diagram too.

I will say though that Prolific does pay with paypal which is a major advantage over mturk for anyone not in the US.
