So, been worrying about my house for, oh, like two months now. Been working my ass off turking to save money just in case.

Now that I know it's nothing imminent, and I can save for it, I want to reward myself with the extra money I've earned.

If I try really hard I might be able to convince myself to buy an Apple Watch. My current fitness tracker is almost four years old and wearing out and will cost $150 to replace so...hm. For a wee bit more I can buy me what I REALLY REALLY WANT.

And it has the "I've fallen and I can't get up, dial 911" emergency thingy plus it will tell me if I'm having a heart attack. Now that I'm old both are real risks.

Just got to get over the guilt of spending money on myself.

My grandma's dementia is getting really bad, so she was admitted to the hospital while they figure out where she's at with Alzheimer's or some other geriatric disease. They tell me visiting hours are 6 to 7, so I go down there right now and they tell me it's from 4 to 6 and she was already asleep. So, now she's been there all day without anyone visiting her. They wouldn't even give her the sweater I brought with me.

Then I come back home and Avs are already down 2-0 and I still need to eat dinner and and only have two beers in the fridge. At least I only had to pay $180 for the vet to tell me that my dog sprained his tail and he'd be okay in a few days. Thanks doc!

Yeah we have all hardwood floors. Some of it original with giant gaps and splinters. We don't have any windows at the center of the house - but the exterior ones shifted when the building was raised and stabilized and caused breaking. The floors definitely took a hit and warped like crazy, but not more than the time our Hot Water Heater melted down and burst when we were out of town for two weeks

Older homes are totally nuts. I swore I'd never live in an 1800's house but then we fell in love with this one. My husband is a contractor but now I won't let him even drill a hole in a wall unless we are ready to take the whole thing apart. We've done the tiniest things in rooms, which have almost always typically led to months of repairs. (We've been working our way through the house and finding lots of original horse hair insulation/plaster, etc.)

Newer homes have their problems for sure too! Sounds like you are in good shape though and don't have to do anything immediately. Which is awesome!

 

That's what I said. They have really strict rules in the geriatric ward.

At least it's 2-1 now.
