Anyone who can manage the cash flow may want to put your direct deposit settings at 30 or 60 days to start with. Let other people be the guinea pigs and fight with mturk support when things go haywire

I been working on Mturk for 10 years .

 

Yeah, that's what I mean. The nefarious worker under the reporting threshold uses payments as untaxed money for any given purpose, only claims what they decide to transfer to their bank, and hopes they're not subject to an audit.

Meanwhile, Mturk doesn't want to draw regulatory attention that ends up forcing them to dink around with doing 1099s for everybody making $600/yr, so they take a proactive step to both increase the transparency of their payments system, while also eliminating the expense of Mturk workers making high frequency payments transactions.

The only real bummer here is if a worker is suspended or banned with a full week (or even 60 days' worth) of earnings trapped in Mturk for however many months it takes to sort out the problem. Right now I transfer to payments on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,except for holidays, to mitigate the risk of having a worthwhile amount trapped in the event of an error on Mturk's side.

I do not think we need to register our bank accounts again.

Just select an option to transfer the "leftover money" (since you can pay for stuff from your payments account) to our bank accounts on a regular basis.

turkers who aren't in the US go through a different payment mechanism iirc. so you and other non-US workers would be unaffected by this change. I think that's what it means, I'm just not sure.
