not it! I've done my sketchy hit for the week - though it did net me $35

 

I did a bunch of Amazon Requester hits this morning since the pay was actually decent and I'm trying to cram in as many hits as possible now in case I'm hit big time.

 

I wrote a couple things to the author of that article in the reddit thread. he chose to run and hide instead of respond

 

After e-mailing the requester I got this response:
"I am in the process of contacting Amazon. Let me know if this does not update by 3PM PST."

 

I did a few batches for a new requester that it said the same thing for a couple weeks ago even though he hadn't yet approved or rejected any work for anyone at the time. I actually had a conversation with another worker about it and they mentioned they had noticed it on a different requester, as well. Seems like some sort of glitch on some new requesters there (unless of course you're actually looking at a requesters that's rejected everything lol).

 

I feel so bad for requesters making genuine mistakes like that, and you know they just got flooded with an inbox full of hate

 

Of course they did, they're the target audience for that sort of thing. The people he interviewed were also specifically recruited from that subreddit. For the most part those guys aren't really "serious" turkers and don't really think about what kind of effect that kind of thing would have on the platform, except for in terms of the agenda the author is pushing (Amazon pay us $15/hr to transcribe receipts, thanks.)

 

He completely changed his reddit account to hide the fact his first reddit post got buried under a mountain of downvotes

Rejected for no good reason. If there was an error during submission process, that's a problem on YOUR end not mine. I completed the survey, I got a code and I submitted it. Sent an e-mail asking for reversal.

someone was praising the article for discouraging people from signing up but I pointed out that I had also seen current or potential requester sighting the article and questioning the morality of using mturk and thus supporting these "slave wage" and that does hurt us.
