Just a warning for anyone who sees this, this requester has rejected a lengthy writing project in the past for $12 and I'm pretty sure they are just going to reject whoever does this hit too

I get that it can be the safer option when you are basically a one man show with TV. It all kind of falls on you if it's misrepresented or if data is used incorrectly or without permission. I just found out that you removed all posts that had requests from academics or journalists and I've been a member for two and half years.

Anyone that reads your blog isn't going to know that policy either even though the last paragraph is inviting people to chat with us or email you. There's no qualifier stating that is for requesters only, so it's saying one thing and doing another because that policy isn't stated. Someone wants to write a followup article from either the NYT or another news outlet might find it weird that their forum post for requests to interview us gets removed after reading that welcome.

With that policy and the data you put forth, you are your own source. It's like the police investigating themselves and finding that there was no wrongdoing. It can't be verified by a third party and everyone has to take it on faith. If the next mturk article says the same thing about mturk, it's going to look like this:

Journalist: I saw that blog post you made about mturk workers, can we see your data to verify it and reach out to the workers on your forum?

TV: No, that's against our ToS.

Journalist: *writes article talking about how poor workers are on mturk without using TV workers' data*

Now I'm not saying it's wrong. Data integrity is super important, even if it's just aggregated data. The point is that there is a huge gap in what people have access to, so an outsider's picture of the mturk world without access to the largest turking community is pretty accurate. Am I wrong in saying that? Take TH/TV out of the picture and look at the resources available and wages for those turkers. People trying to figure out scripts on their own, using r/mturk thinking that $10/day is good, using TO/TO2 because TV is run by someone that went to prison. It's cold, cold world without us.

 

I'm uh, unable to reply to his Twitter from TV's but.. I'd suggest that as an excellent opportunity for a worker to reach out & spread the good word.
