And yes, Nyquil is not very tasty so downing half a bottle tastes like crap. That's why you surround it by other tasty stuff and dull your sense with booze first (of course, I know most people can't do something like that ).

My partner has had mild success with a lesser version of this (half glasses of whisky, only 2-3 gulps of Nyquil). The thing is really just to put yourself in sleep for a long time to let your body deal with whatever you have, and all of this is just to put yourself in a state where even if your body tries to wake you up with coughing and all, you'll sleep through it without an issue and your immune system gets to do its job for 12h.
