I have the nest that I wired up and installed this morning. With the Nest they claim it doesn't need a C-wire, and that it somehow piggybacks electricity to charge the lithium battery without any c-wire or adapters or anything. - And that's how I have it set up currently.

Unfortunately some people have issues with this with certain furnace setups causing wonky behavior and sometimes dead thermostats when not using a c-wire.

It's working fine as of now, but I'll be keeping a watchful eye on it.

I was about to make a similar comment hehe. It's like, for every annoying quality the bot has, he also sucks it up when he comes home and I have some scraggly ass feral cat or dog that needs $$$ vet care and is peeing on everything we own The bot says he just fully expects to come home and find a sickly coyote living in the garage at some point.

Pros:
Easy to get in a rhythm once instructions are figured out. Pay is 5 cents instead of 10, but this is different from the ones over the holiday weekend with less questions. Pay rate would get better after doing a few and getting used to them

Cons:
Ctrl and highlight method for first line sometimes takes an extra time or two to register, slowing down some hits

Ecobee uses room sensors instead of trying to learn your schedule and can be programmed that way. Basically you set home and away modes (I also have a night setting). Nest may be really good at learning your schedule, but I had a lot more confidence in sensors.

Costco is usually a good bet as ecobee and nest seem to rotate monthly sales but I imagine you can find a good deal today

 

check your power company for rebates.

My nest e cost me 39 dollars because of a black friday sale along with a comed electric 75 dollar instant rebate and a 25 dollar Nicor gas instant rebate.
