To me it's a paranoia thing or not. I used to be all conspiracy shit and them vs me and truther crap. At the end of the day, wtf can I do to stop it? You have to either let the garbage consume you or not. Yes it is WAY different than 1984 when the wall was still up and every action movie was about us defeating the Russians. Personally I could give a fk now whether I'm being spied on. I love AI, I love Google and Amazon, I love all the ways tech has improved everything and can't imagine going back...although playing pickup football games, kick the can, and swimming all the damn time sure was fun.

 

The ability to personalize everything makes people feel like they are cared about. That they can always been shown products and news that they care about. The generation today, whatever you want to call it milleneal or whatever. Has the shortest attention span of all time because of being raised in the high information, high speed world. No one wants to sort through anything they want to get what they want now, instant gratification. Sports like baseball struggle because of this, no joke.

So to these people the idea that they can look at their phone or computer and literally see only things that interest them and it does it for them is the tits.

That's where I am, I enjoy a lot of the tech stuff and I just accepted that this is what is going to happen now. It's either accept it or live without it and well I don't want to live with it.

 

Husband and I have spoken that if it gets too much worse we might just become hermits. Find some shitty normie job that we can stand, make as little money as needed and live off the land the best we can. Have a single computer for the need of weather and certain modern things. This world isn't comfortable to me.

 

I find this entire debate funny given that we all turk and that's like 90% putting yourself online for profit.

Oh absolutely, a friend of mine wants to have a debate like this all the time where he takes it to "no one needs the internet" and I'll say I guess you don't need power either right? and his jackass will respond well actually you don't.

But he isn't making this argument because he's worried about spying or privacy he's making this argument because he's lazy with no money and he's jealous of what other people have...

 

I'm stuck in this time of wanting privacy but there's increasingly less and less. I also hate dealing with people face to face. So I'm stuck relying on the internet which puts me in the system and it bothers me. I feel trapped between a rock and a hard place and every time I talk about it everyone kind of laughs because of where I've stuck myself.
