He wasn’t a heavy smoker to begin with and has been pretty good about quitting, but he was Grinching NONSTOP to the point he started feeling bad for being so annoying about it and instituted a punishment for complaining. He’s the type of person who can easily go without smoking or whatever as long as it’s not right there in his face. Give him a pack of smokes, COUGH SAY HIS COWORKER WHO KEEPS TRYING TO GET HIM TO START SMOKING AGAIN COUGH and he has like 0 self control and then death spirals into a chimney until he feels like crap. So he quit for a long time and then his coworker gave him a pack and then he got back into it. Which is still on matt, but it’s crappy behavior for adults to try and drag other adults back into things like that when you know they quit and they resist until you literally just leave a pack on their desk Same goes with stuff like booze, which several of his coworkers will try to give him even tho they know he quit a couple years ago, and will say things like, “ we won’t tell birdie!” And then they call me “ bossy.”

Like, I’m an uptight bulldog about it, but because he explicitly asked me to keep him on the straight and narrow.

And yes, I did have a friendly chat with his coworker who left a pack of smokes on his freaking desk.

Very friendly, indeed.

 

I'm not totally sure what's going on for you, but I wish you strength and hope to get through it.

 

I will excuse her ...this 1 time. Like there isn't enough to remember they had to go and throw a damned elf in there that needs to do something creative every night, EVERY night.
