There are easier ways to hint but If I am not VERY specific it turns into a disaster or he gets overwhelmed with the choices and gives up. Easier for the kids to look at their list and say "hey day mom wants X. I think she would like this size, color, model etc...

My family does this. We just give lists and links when necessary. I currently have a "note" on my iPhone that keeps sending me alerts that one of my kids is updating her list.

Oldest kid makes a Google Doc that she shares with everyone.

I send out my Amazon Wish List.

We just flat out say, "These things. Any of these things are good."
