12/03 - Tamale Tuesday!

I grew up in that old school culture. I was 8 years old being screamed at by coaches over making mistakes, even being singled out for not being in good enough shape...I was 8, it's so ridiculous to look back at. I didn't enjoy playing until I was 10 years old, when I moved down a level. It's such a garbage culture that moved from the pros all the way down to the minor system.

As an adult, I have coached several teams, and there's a way to be a tough coach to get the best out of your players through accountability without being a dick, but there's just no room for this garbage, old school abusive stuff. This is the beginning of the end of that style, and I have a feeling we're going to start hearing some pretty terrible stories. This feels like hockey's me too moment.

 

I don't know if sports will ever move away from that. Some coaches are players coaches some guys are not. I live in KC there isn't a day that goes by that I don't hear "Andy Reid will never win a Superbowl because he is to soft on the players"

 

I am originally from Denmark (been in the United States for almost 12 years now) and I can tell you that culture seems to be international. I never played hockey myself but I watched lost of games, and even the little kids were being screamed at.

I think there are cam sites out there that'll net you more income then mturk. The idea being you cam while turk is slow and then turk while it's off cam hours! Win win if that's your style
