It depends how good your computers are also, if you have some gaming rig with big time processors no issues. If you have an older computer running finder and catcher and working can make it lag a bit. So if you can separate that stuff that can be helpful.

But a lot of of it is personal feel. Like I use to know someone that literally used a laptop to work batches separate or to split out the long surveys so they didn't need extra tabs.

 

I see. I just don't understand how to catch more with one only. I have been told to only have 2 to 3 hits in hitcatcher at a time.

So much FOMO'ing going on right now inside of me.

Mturk is only going to let you refresh so much so the more you have in there it has to divide it up between the hits.

You can run more than 2-3 HITs in HIT Catcher if you want (may increase PRE chances though), it depends on how many searches you have. If I'm up to 300-500 I usually pause HIT Catcher before deleting the HIT from HIT Catcher.

 

I do know some people believe if you are hard wired you can catch more hits, not sure how I feel about it since I haven't experimented with it.

 

That is kinda what I do. When a hit goes passed 300 I either pause it or delete it.

 

I have to agree with this. I just replaced my 6 year old computer last week, and have not noticed any difference in catching hits. Pages load sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much fast though. but actually catching them, nadda difference.

My buddy is a computer science major and my computer is cobbled together from various parts from his computers over the last 10 years. The little bits he didn't reuse or use to upgrade someone. I have absolutely no graphics card for example. It's all on board graphics. I can confirm that you don't need a powerful or pretty setup to Turk. Franken-puter works.
