Ah, then I read them all. Love Terry Pratchett, too.

I gotta start reading more again. Someone please figure out how I can crochet and read at the same time.

That's basically what I do. It's a different experience, though. But I'll adjust.

Just queued up Pet Semetery. Not fantasy at all (wull, wait. YES IT IS! Hardcore fantastical fiction because the shit that happens in that book may not happen in real life!)

But it's not fantasy like we're talking here.

I constantly have headphones in when I'm at home. My poor kid has to yell to get my attention.

I listen to something every single night I cook. When I walk. When I'm doing housework. When I decorate with my holiday stuffs. When I'm in the shower. When I'm in the pool. Basically, most of my life.

Maybe, but I'll quote Wikipedia here, "Low fantasy or intrusion fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy fiction where magical events intrude on an otherwise normal world"

The first one was definitely the best, but I liked them all. If there are more than three I need to go find the fourth. :emoji_joy:

That book is a true mind f**k. Way, way, way, way, way worse of one after I became a parent!

I was more referring to the parts with the Wendigo. King's interpretation of it is more Lovecraft than the traditional folklore version.

I always heard it used in context of fantasy where the characters are written more realistically, with less focus on magic and stuff so :dunno:

Huh. I really should have studied contemporary fiction more to make better connections. Never married up King and Lovecraft but I can see it.

Now I want to revisit Lovecraft.

Asimov, I'm coming for you next.

    Fair enough, I'm no expert.

intrude on an otherwise normal world: this made me think of the Dresdin books.
