So a girl that my son and daughter went to school with up until this year, her family moved to a more rural area, was killed in a car accident yesterday. Apparently it was a jeep that had 5 teens in it and it failed to yield pulling out in front of another car.

I feel like my son is going to be annoyed because this exact thing is why we always want to know where he is and who he's with and why he needs to ask before riding with someone. It's also why when he drives we get onto him about how he drives. javing anyone in the car without asking etc. He has an app on his phone that tells you where he is how fast he drove etc...one day it said he drove 90 to school in an area where the limit is 65.

I literally tell him everytime we have this convo, these rules exist because teens at every school die every year from stupid driving decisions. He has constantly Grinched about being tracked and his freedom......so I feel he's going to be really aggravated about all of this.

I would give anything to be able to afford to restore a place like that. The history alone is amazing, and then you add in the beautiful craftsmanship. It's just amazing.

    how are property taxes there?

someties you can find huge mansions around here for dirt cheap, but the taxes are outrageous and based on potential value rather than actual

that house is cool as fudge berries though. it'd be worth it just to have and breed raccoons in it for meat or whatever

Pretty sure that use case wouldn't pass muster on the restoration plan document you need to submit.

That house was super cool to look at as someone originally from ~45 mins away from there. That saying "Assessment: 2019 property tax is assessed at $162,100" - that's INSANE.

    that's not the taxes paid.

that's the value in which the assessor says the house is worth. So you pay taxes based off the 162,100.

That's actually quite a bit lower than I would have thought tbh. I figured it'd be near a million

    i think
