12/13 - Flabbergasted Friday!

I actually like those little sets. Especially the different sausages you get in them.

 

I just don't really love mixing my fruit and my cake in general. They are basically different food groups for me and I prefer it that way

 

Some are ok ish but I haven't tried many others and stuck with my favorite Hickory Farms....dunno if they are better it's just a thing that was EVERYWHERE back in NH

 

What even is shortbread, and why not just make it taller?

When I'm feeling extra fancy, I grab myself one of them hilshire farms snacking plates (white cheddar and wine salami for the win) and take it on my hike. I feel like a real fancy lady, eating my cheese and crackers on some mountain peak or canyon cliff.

It's actually really hard to bake cake with fruit in it without doing weird stuff to it. Otherwise it's too soggy...

 

Now that...that's ok. The fruit is in the buttercream.

 

it's actually a traditional biscuit that you would have with tea or something and has a traditional recipe of 1 sugar:2 butter:3 flour

It was one of the first cookies/biscuit I learned to make cause I insisted on real tea parties with tea and biscuits as a kid, and my dad and I tried and failed to make them a few dozen times before Nana took over and showed me the one true way!

 

I would eat this with both of my mouths

 

The only time I've ever enjoyed making cake with a fruit component was taking dehydrated strawberries and blitzing them into a delicious powder that I then mixed with cheesecake mousse as a cake filling- I regret nothing. It was delicious. Whole/sliced fruit tho? SO SOGGY! Drives me up a wall when someone just garnishes a perfectly lovely slice of cake with a random strawberry or two and then you have this damp, weird space on your slice and the strawberry is also all soggy and weird by the time you eat it! AT LEAST MAKE A STRAWBERRY TOPPING OR SOMETHING, DAMN!

Cannoli cream with fresh strawberry cake is my favorite.

Fruitcake is gross.

Pineapple on pizza is gross.

just like jello with fruit cocktail in it is gross. (though now I'm oddly craving it because grandparents were Mormon and that jello/Mormon thing is totally real.)

 

Yeah the only time I want to eat soggy cake is if it's strawberry shortcake.

 

Y'all are making me hungry.
