I occasionally do that kind of torment, but only with her friends who've known me so long that they'll tell me I'm embarrassing even when my own kid won't.

However, over the past year she's been acquiring other groups of friends who don't know me as well, so I try and be cognizant of her social standing and just be reasonably charming. The problem is they (mostly teenage girls) are fascinated by my accent, which she never even thinks about, and that's embarrassing to her.

Probably because one of her friends used the word "hot" or "sexy" or "cute" or something like that when referencing your accent and she wanted to vomit hearing that, lol.

My kid was told a few years ago that if he ever completely messes up I WILL show up at his school dressed like I'm from an 80s Whitesnake video and sit on the hood of my car with Hair Bands blasting waiting to pick him up.

I have very little shame. (I don't want to say no shame, as I have some, but very litte...)
