King Cake holds so many memories with my family too. We'd hop from house to house and each one of my relatives would have a King Cake to celebrate Mardi Gras. I never grew tired of them. I was just a kid, but could devour King Cake like there was no tomorrow. Still can, truth be told.

 

Oh, I've ordered them. My next goal is to make one... Should be interesting, but I love baking.

 

You aren't accounting for self-employment tax, though. Also, $12/hr for a task that takes like, actual focus is nowhere near fair, I'd want to be paid $20/hr (before taxes) at the very least.

I had a massive baking fail yesterday. followed a recipe to the gram, used the same tip, etc, AND IT LOOKED AWFUL. Tasted fine, but I was PISSED. Tweaked the recipe to my liking today and it came out perfect. I sent @Buntastic about 50 texts in a full on rage and made the bot take the ugly ones to work so that I never had to see them again

Was there a baby in your cakes?

My family used to do the King cake with the baby in it and you'd get a prize if you found the baby (usually by chewing on it, lovely).

The Danes do something similar with some type of pudding that is like rice pudding and an almond. You have to keep the almond in your mouth until everyone is done, then reveal it. No swallowing. Well, at least those are the rules our Danish neighbors went by when I was a kid and they would serve it up to us at Christmas.
