AMT is still the payments processor (unless they're contracted it out to yet another third party not named APay but that's probably unlikely). They're just ALSO the marketplace. PayPal actually had something similar at some point (no clue if it still exists).

It's the same setup of APay and Amazon's FBA stuff (relatively speaking at least)

@ChrisTurk I am requesting some budget to replace all of the office toilets with these. Too many people here have gotten lazy.

 

See, here's where I'm unsure. Because say you do a ScoutIt. Technically, Jon Brelig doesn't pay you -- Jon Brelig purchased credits from AMT, and AMT paid you. That made Amazon Payments the "third party processor" required to meet the letter of the Internal Revenue Code law (6050W fwiw).

But now that Amazon Mechanical Turk is taking that over in-house, they're technically both the ones doing the paying as well as the payment processor. There is no third-party anymore. Unless they're going to get away with some fuckery where they say "reqs pay workers directly! we're just a marketplace!" <--- but technically isn't true under the law.

 

WH.. How does this even work? Does the decline change over 5 minutes or is it somehow hard to hold a slightly tilted squat?

 

If you've been skipping leg day, sitting at that angle becomes unbearable over time.

 

Don't worry the request has some funds allocated for me to change the ones in your house as well.

 

How is that not true? MTurk is far more of a marketplace than Uber, Lyft, etc who all operate under the exact same premise.

There isn't even any "virtual currency" conversion.. you're not really buying "credits" you're just transferring money into an intermediary account (same as a PP account, although they are more flexible with reversing a deposit)

Brelig is the sole decider of making the call for AMT to transfer his funds from his account to yours. If he says no, AMT says "OK" and waltzes away and waits until he pays the next chump.

Just because it sits in an account on their ledger doesn't really mean much, it's like a charge hold at a gas station to ensure he actually has the funding to make a transaction

Again, out my ass, but it makes sense to me
