Please report back. I have an air fryer I bought a couple years ago on black Friday, and have not touch in approximately a year and 10 months. Been feelin' guilty about it, and am ready to either rehome it or actually commit to using it regularly.

My housemate got one of those recently. I was skeptical, but from my point of view it turned out to be a very useful 'tool' addition.
It's just like microwaves. Sometimes it works beautifully, and other times it doesn't. You just have to figure out which things it's
perfect for, and which things it isn't. And, of course, if you enjoy this sort of thing, it's a lot of fun playing around with different
temperatures and times to achieve this 'perfection'. ( :

I'd love to hear how it comes out. I'm considering getting one of them if they are actually worth it. What's the difference from baking or broiling?

Bake means you heat the air to a temp and let the food cook that way. With the air fryer it uses convection (fans blow the air around) to cook it faster.

With broil, it's usually that you're just blasting it with heat. It uses the heating element whether a flame from a gas oven or a heating element to blast whatever you're cooking with heat.

So I'd imagine in relation to an air fryer - it would use the nickel wire heating element or whatever the heck it has to blast whatever you're cooking with heat directly - rather than heating the air and letting it cook that way to a specific temperature

But as I always say - just get a good quality toaster oven with a convection feature.

It's hard to explain. You could also ask what the difference is from deep-frying. You just have to try it and see what works well! ( :

I have about four small appliances in a pantry in the garage I haven't touched in years. This spring I'm being ruthless. I either start using them in 2020 or away they go (except for the canning stuff, I won't part with that stuff...but beyond that? Waffle iron? Goes unless I use it. Deep fryer that has one or two uses...goes unless I use it. Electric skillet? (actually, that's going to go. I won't use it.) )

to be honest, I don't use the convection much, but if you want the quick cooking of an air fryer - you could just get a toaster oven with a good convection feature. That way you can do everything you want. Cook a frozen pizza. Make toast. Keep something warm. Or air fry something.

I'm biased though towards toaster ovens. For all I know air fryers are great. I just don't give them a chance, because the toaster oven is already the most perfect companion of any kitchen fellow

I love my waffle maker, but I also use it for sweet or savory waffles, as a panini press thingy for grilled che-, um, hot melted sandwiches, or savory potato pancake-ish things.

I do want an air fry thingie for french fries honestly.

I use my toaster oven often because it's just me and the kid so many times I am not ovening a huge thing (like french bread or biscuits, or calzones, etc.)

Hm. What's a good brand of one that isn't a bazillion dollars?

I want to get a bread maker, but also realize that it'll probably sit as soon as I get REALLY into making bread - as I do with any new hobbies - then I'll just start making loafs in the oven instead
