In Chrome:
On the right of your address bar (up top) there will be your add-ons (extensions). I run Tampermonkey, so I click on it and half way down from the "pop-up" it says: "Check for userscript updates;" click on that.

In Firefox:
I use Greasemonkey there and I don't see a way to update it I need to figure this out - not good...

Super dumb question; did you close everything and restart?
