PE -$300.

Spencer's vet bill. For a middle aged cat who might not even live with use forever. He's now chipped, vaccinated, taken two deworming pills, been extensively examined, been flea treated and is hiding in my closet.

he escaped last night and went back to his old home but my neighbor helped me retrieve him and brought him back here. We figure he'll keep going back to her house even though she doesn't let him inside, and we're just hoping that he comes back here to come inside and hang with us. We're going to work together on that.

he will need his teefers worked on. So I'll be saving for that if he comes to live with use. He's not a young cat.

oh, and he's 15.5 lbs of BIG CAT, not fat, just big.

 

Forgot to say the neighbor offered to help me pay for the vet bill. But I turned that down. I mean, she never intended to keep him and has been feeding him for a year, so I figure that's pretty awesome and costly on her part. But it was super nice she offered!

 

Holy defecation, Bat Man! Fifteen pounds?!?!? That's heavier than an M-1 rifle for Pete's sake. Holy carp!

 

Yep. Even the vet was surprised when I took him out of the box he almost did not fit into (a box cat carrier). They said he's not overweight, he's just a big boy.

And they love that he's polydactyl, as that's rare on this coast. More common back east.

Now I just hope his big, middle aged self will agree to live with us since I invested so much money into him!!! If not, then I did my good deed for the year.

Which would be funny ironic.

Everyone who ever met Dessa said I have a dog who is basically a cat who barks. And that was true, Dess was a lot like a cat in many ways.

And I recently said I think I just swapped a dog who was a cat for a cat who is actually a dog in a cat's body and has to remind himself to act like a cat. Like if I'm carrying him and he gets too close to one of the other cats he is totally relaxed, then all of a sudden just hisses, but his body is chill, doesn't tense up at all, no claws, nothing at all besides the hissing. Like his dog brain went, "Oh yeah, I'm a cat, I'm supposed to hiss at other cats."

 

Well, is this ironic or not! I and a girlfriend in the 80's used to have a cat that had an extra paw: we called her "Six Foot."
