is there anything unethical about showing a beheading video if you warn about the content and someone clicks through anyways? not that i would ever want to see that shit but i imagine a lot of people have a $ number they would cave to

I saw one beheading and two people jump to their death off buildings during that Sergey-marathon a few years ago, but that's hardly Mturk's fault. I'm not sure why anyone would even mention that in a survey about your experience on the site, but I know there were a few people that also saw the same videos, so I can only guess that's where the comments came from.

 

Absolutely nothing wrong with it whatsoever if people are adequately warned. These articles also act like you're being forced into writing about your traumatic childhood for $3/hr as well, which is simply untrue.

I opted for a McDonald's large size cola for my evening caffeine fix. It's generously being brought over by my friend who, I'm quite certain, is an enabler.

 

Here's the thing, in almost everything You Know Who has contributed to as a crowdworker, she mentions beheading videos and drone strikes and other supposedly questionable content, but doesn't actually name names. So I feel like this author was simply fishing for clickbait, and by not naming their actual sources or using quotes, they're free to just put whatever they want in the article, including stuff that wasn't actually in the data they collected.

 

Am I eggy enough?

 

Having used Photoshop for decades I thought transitioning to GIMP would be easier.

It wasn't.

But once I got over the learning curve of constantly trying to find stuff where Photoshop would have it and memorized where GIMP has it, I'm golden.

Though their "auto" stuff sucks big time.

And that article makes it sound like Mturk is full of this stuff.

I'm subjected to stuff I don't want to see on the Internet all the darn time! And I'm paying my ISP for that privilege. Mturk is much "safer" than browsing the Internet.

 

That's my first thought about almost everything I read in these articles.

Amazon is literally chaining us to our PCs and making us watch beheading videos and rate how we feel about them for 0.97/hr.

 

Bet there was a Slightly agree through Strongly agree scale for the "how do you feel about MTurk". Also, I've seen the beheading ones a bunch, honestly too many times, along with all of sorts of real life violence aftermath photos.
