I think that's a you question. Only you can truly say whether it helps you or not. A lot of us find different values in it.

Those banners have been buggy for as long as I remember. I haven't kept up with MTurk's updates in that regard, but it sounds like much hasn't changed. I think it's something you get used to ignoring, more or less.

MTS provided a lot of extra functionality with useful scripts, scrapers, database tools, etc. Those tools are offered from the good work of @Kadauchi, who spent his free, largely unappreciated, time making them for free. If you really want to see the value in it, try using the platform without them.

Assuming you're referring to HIT Catcher, basically, the presence of a particular HIT you're looking for will be available to be grabbed before it can be scraped. Having a tool do that at the click of a button is a lot less tedious than refreshing a link over and over again (plus, will be extra hassle with the way MTurk redirects sometimes now). It might also consume less data than doing it manually, but don't quote me on that.
