It's easy to assume there's an easy answer for all of this, but the world can be pretty complicated sometimes. We do our best. Our hands are tied by law on the way an eviction has to proceed, which means we need into the house.

Certain people can blame me and say I'm pathetic and a fucking liar for not postponing the eviction for a few weeks to then look up resources to rescue these dogs. I'm sure the owner, who has been without rent already for a couple of months, would totally appreciate us taking that path.

I've tried to find solutions. There isn't one that I am aware of, and we do regularly check.

I can't fix all the shitty things people do.

Maybe they should have 4 dogs if they can't manage to pay rent. 4 dogs aren't cheap to feed.
I feel like you did the right thing. Everyone knows that you have to pay your rent to be allowed to keep living somewhere.

 

Of course I've tried to find resources! If you have read other posts, and you have, you can see where I say I regularly attend meetings to get resources for all the things in this community.

Right now there is a void on what owners can do when this happens. I'm sick about it myself. You can hate me and call me a pathetic fucking liar all you want, but I didn't abandon the dogs and we either took possession of the house today (which means dogs need to be out of the house) or we put it off another few weeks (which means the house can get broken into often since it'll be vacant).
