That's great, that's your approach to posting on forums. I'm sure there are plenty of people that are the same. However there are also plenty of people that literally just want an answer to the actual question they asked. And often people know that they are asking an unorthodox question, that's why they hit the forum, to see if anyone else has been in the specific situation they are in. I'll give you another example. I love to read and belong to a bunch of book-related forums. In one of them the other day a person asked if anyone knew about any software that would let you get around Kindle's DRM protection so they could download kindle books to other devices. A couple people shared software they had used. One person decided to explain to the OP and the others who responded with software suggestions exactly what DRM is, why it's used, and why it's wrong for them to try to get around it. I GUARANTEE you the OP knew that already, they specifically said they wanted to get around DRM. They knew what they were trying to do wasn't kosher. They were asking if anyone else did the same unkosher thing and could help them out. The person who launched a digital lecture was wasting their characters. I highly doubt the OP was like oh my goodness! I need to stop trying to get around Kindle's regulations right now! Thank you for showing me the light! I'm a self-published author, I have books published on Kindle. I personally don't like the idea of people getting around any of Kindle's regulations. That being said, I don't feel the need to lecture people who do. They know it's wrong, and me telling them so is not going to stop them.

It is what it is. If people feel the need to dispense advice on every possible occasion they can, get on a soapbox and show everyone how wise and educated they are, no one can stop them. It's their internet too. Me? I'm only going to answer questions I know the answers to, and give my best advice to those that ask me for it.
