While I agree it's 100% ridiculous...it also benefits me greatly. So I think I'm going to sit this protest out, lol.

 

IIRC he's a single (as in singular, alone - not single in the romantic sense.. idk why I felt like I had to clarify this but the wording is weird) grad student doing project stuff. He has always paid up in the past, including times when he really didn't need to, so I wouldn't worry about "if" they'll come and just assume its gonna be a "when" kind of deal.
