But you can mail a bowling ball if you slap enough stamps on it.

It is. There is no legal requirement to spell it out. That line is to prevent fraud because if you put something like $1500 on the check, then spell out One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars, no one can change it to $7500 easily.

I know those hits were being used for crappy stuff, but I kinda want to do another 10K of them.

I actually don't think the actual purpose of the hits was that crappy, but clearly too many people disagreed. Silly morals about things that don't matter holding back the advancement of technology etc. etc.

Weren't they trying to use AI to generate videos? It was something along the lines of that. I remember Mashable posted an article about them.

“We have long worked with government agencies to provide technology solutions. This specific project is a pilot with the Department of Defense, to provide open source TensorFlow APIs that can assist in object recognition on unclassified data,” Gizmodo quoted the Google rep as saying. “The technology flags images for human review, and is for non-offensive uses only. Military use of machine learning naturally raises valid concerns. We’re actively discussing this important topic internally and with others as we continue to develop policies and safeguards around the development and use of our machine learning technologies.”

Stuff we were doing was mostly for object and action recognition.

They also did that facial recognition thing for police that wasn't working that well. Apparently they could only narrow some people down to about 80 candidates, so there could be a lot of mistaken identity.

I did like 7 billion of those HITs. Can I add to my CV "Was involved in planning and coordinating a series of advanced drone strikes by the Department of Defense" ?
