There is one of those on the outside of my town like an hour away...some people I've known that worked there said it was really awful...like you have no time to the extent that people piss in bottles bad.

I worked amazon VCS (they send me a laptop, I take their customer service calls, I absolutely couldn't stand doing it), and they will only hire people for this position in certain states, specifically the states where workers don't have many rights.

The requester fees are close to 40%? I'm sure @ChrisTurk would have an actual number, that's where they would get the money from to pay for those things like SE taxes and some type of job security.

If you make $10k on mturk then amazon profits $4000 already from requesters, they raised this a few years ago pushing our mturk wages down. That's how it works when you raise fees, the person actually doing the work gets screwed.

Well, no, I was thinking more monetary. Like, would they let us work from home? If not, commute costs. They'd would also lower how much we make to pay for those employment taxes and benefits. There is limited job security with Amazon really (at least around here, and we have three amazon distribution centers nearby).

Amazon will make their money from us to pay those taxes, plus we could lose the benefit of working in our comfortable homes on our schedule without monitoring or oversight. I like the freedom to work how I want, wearing what I want, whenever I want. That's worth a lot to me.

I see how much we pay in taxes here for employees, along with benefits. It's quite a bit. We could pay quite a bit more hourly to our employees if we didn't have to pay those, but classifying them as an independent contractor isn't legal :)

for sure - I tell this every time the topic comes up, but I started by using an rss feed app alerting me to every post on hwtf, which I found through beermoney. Hell, my first post on MTG was asking what a panda was, because I thought once a hit was gone, it was gone. We all start somewhere, and that place is usually reddit. From clueless on reddit to legitimately working full time for a requester within a few years, it would suck to have been mocked just for being on reddit when I didn't know better. Don't get me wrong, there's a big difference between the people who are still learning and end up evolving while they learn, and the people who call us all scammers for making more than they do without trying to learn how. It's good for laughs sometimes, but mocking always looks gross because you never know who will end up where and why.

I can't remember what site it was now, but I first found a site that had hits posted and you could click them to see if they were still available. Not a forum, just an updated list of all the hits that people would submit. I thought that was the bomb!

Then I found MTG next. Totally changed my world. I'm glad I found it within the first month or so of turking (two months? dunno, but it was quick.) I was very confused by it at first as I would start at the first post and wonder why there were so many anime pictures opening up a "thread" (and wtf was a thread? lol...) I figured out foruming pretty quickly, thank goodness!!!

I always got a kick out of hitsworthturkingfor getting so damn mad if you failed to mention in the post title whether or not the survey had an MC or an AC.

like 99% of surveys have an AC. Isn't it to the point where you always just assume they were there?

If anyone wants a job with most benefits (not medical, as a small business we can't afford it and we've tried!!!) but we do have retirement and paid leave and are very family friendly....we're desperately trying to find someone decent who is reliable and will stick around!!!

(We have an interview today, wish us luck.)

oh and if you linked a previewandaccept link rather than a preview - you were getting scolded, shunned, and murdered.
