    I have an old HP laptop (daily laptop, HP pavillion dv6) that I bought for $1200CAD in 2012 and that's worked without an issue since. I replaced the battery 2 years ago because mine didn't hold the charge anymore. It was one of the more expensive ones (12cell, weird specific shape) and it was like $60USD, so you could consider changing it. Bought it here: https://www.laptop-battery-shop.com. Shopping experience was fine for both my battery and my GF's battery and the cost was reasonable.

    If you spend a bunch of money there, I have interesting offers on Starbucks gift cards if you'd like to save (maybe for a new laptop battery?) :p
