lol fuck this company - they're still expecting people to come into work, but don't worry because now they're going to start monitoring employees' temperatures??? thankfully my immediate boss told everyone in our chicago office to work from home, but it's good to know that corporate doesn't give a shit about their employees!

We are paying our employee to stay home. All we asked her to do yesterday was carry all the envelopes we stuffed in a hurry on Monday with letters to everyone explaining our new procedures during this time. Fun times.

Been trying to get my friend who is a Librarian (whose library was shut down by the state days ago) to stay home. Instead the Board of her Library is making 8 people come in every day (to a closed library) when they could teleconference everything that needs to be done.

 

You are correct. If we stay home, we have to use sick time, but we wouldnt be working. With a baby on the way, using my sick time now might put me at a disadvantage later on in the year should I need to stay home with said baby. So using sick time right now just doesnt make sense.

Honestly, the country isnt taking this seriously enough and employers arent either. Mine for sure is putting profits before safety and I hope it backfires.

 

So I saw that I slept through the cat turd discussion. (Bad me for not getting up until 6 am!)

Just want to chime in...I bought some pine pellets like we discussed here weeks ago. I mixed them in with normal plain clay litter and OMG. It's like a miracle happened. The make your eyes water ammonia smell from male cat pee has been eliminated! If I take the lid off the box I can smell it but it no longer seeps out.

I have three cats and this is a godsend.

And I swear it cuts the smell of stinky poops. I was surprised to find poop in there last time I cleaned it because I had no warning.

Pine pellets for the win, and once this craziness passes I'm off to Tractor Supply Co for a 40 lb bag of it for $5.00.

Thankfully, I'm pretty confident many states will be on complete lockdown except essentials. Since the feds are leaving it to the states to decide - it's just a matter of everyone just following the others' lead. dunno though
