I had a conversation with a teacher friend of mine where I shouldn't have opened my mouth...I asked how remote learning was going and I got.."Well the top 30-40% of kids are doing great with it but the bottom 20% don't care and aren't even trying" I responded....how's that any different than normal...I shouldn't have said that because that turned into a 15 minute lecture.

I haven't caught one hit out of dozens and dozens today. What a waste of a day.

 

Telling a teacher there are just some kids you can't reach isn't the best idea, they take that as a challenge and then I had to be educated about how that was a wrong opinion to have.

Luckily, we don't have a decor thing and I always have weird stuff out. It just has to be "neat" and whatever. I'm also not responsible for any of the HOA maintenance stuff, so I mostly just roll my eyes and remind them to call to my landlord when they decide the palm tree needs trimming or whatever it is this time

I did learn the hard way my first week here that they fine you if your trash can is visible from the street on a day that isn't trash day....would have been great if my landlord had given us a heads up

 

Which I must say is an admirable trait for a teacher to have. I wouldn't want anyone teaching kids who was easily willing to give up on 20% of them.

 

I have one of those kids......the 20% that don't give a rats ass and she's 16 and after roughly 9 years of dealing with it....as a step parent I'm ready to give up, trying to make her do school work is miserable for everyone living in the house to be frank.

So it is admirable because I understand.

 

Unfortunately, in a lot of rural areas, home internet is just not a thing. It would be absolutely unfair to pass/fail students when they don't even have Internet access at home.

 

As a landlord who manages in several HOAs it's not always easy to keep up with all of their rules. We try, but we're human, too, and short of just handing you what we HOPE are the updated rules and guidelines we will forget some.

I really wish I could tell the neighbors to please dear god get rid of the giant couch sitting beside the road. It's been 4 weeks of it just sitting there and the trashmen aren't taking it. They aren't going to.
But really, I'd rather the couch then getting fined over trashcans being seen. That's just asinine

 

Reminding us to upkeep our bushes and whatever violations they could find, cause they seem bored and have been circling in their golf carts for days hah. I had the door open so the cats could stare at the birds outside and I found out the HOA lady was sticking something on the screen door cause Skeeter sprinted across the house and howled- scared the pants off the lady at the door

 

Must be. I refuse to work for HOAs as that's not my jam. we get asked a lot to manage them and I won't. Good money, but no way am I being THAT Karen.

We once got a letter because a tenant had cable tv installed and the wire was neatly attached to the side of the house going upstairs. The wire was white. The house was light green. they threatened to fine unless the wire was painted the same color as the house.

nope, I'll never be that person.

I was miffed cause it wasn't even in the street, it was next to my grarage and we had just moved in a few days prior and nobody thought it was relevant to tell the bot & I. I had to wade thru this governance packet that is like 80 pages and my landlady didn't even give it to us when we moved in... Setting me up for failure with that one, tbh! I normally dislike hoas but given where we live, if they didn't have some neighborhood rules, it would go to hell like the rest of the town

I'd love to see my HOA deal with a couch on the side of the road, they would go nuts!
