I live in Texas and we don't have basements for whatever reason. But I wish I had one.

 

Just cover your windows with blackout curtains and turn out all the lights. You get the important bits of the basement experience. Maybe release some cave crickets to get the other bits.

 

That is kinda weird since you guys get tornadoes now there. Isn't a basement common there?
