The worst part is doing all the assets, even for just a dumb demo. All the basic code is easy enough, but farting around with ~80-160 frames of animation for everything is just the worst. Well, except for dinking around with music; I could compose like 40 minutes of orchestrated music for every minute of plinking lo-fi synth garbage and, well,

 

Y'know, I heard about this platform called MTurk, where you can pay people and farm out small, tiny tasks like this for just a few cents.

 

I'd probably be looking at ~40 hours for a competent pixel artist, say ~$1200, and then probably ~60 hours for some kid in a music school to churn epic fantasy tracks that turn out to be Zelda songs, so another ~$800.
Which seems a little excessive for a whim that has a less than 1 in a 1000 chance of ever being distributed outside of a novelty demo for like 5 people here.
