I know sometimes we get screwed by researchers, but it is legitimately funny to kinda watch that "field" and see just how much the US academic system relies on just absolutely boning everyone it possibly can



I don't even know who really makes anything in this system.. other than Elsevier

 

Email them with the number of tokens! I got a response from them within 5 minutes because I got stuck there too and they said to submit with ID & they'd compensate.

 

I'm a simple man. I read beef and onion rings - I nom.

 

Remind me again why I wasted $1200 on apps to get into grad school for the opportunity to compete for the 1% chance I'll get a tenure-track professor job in a decade?

Because when you get tenure you can not do a single lick of work, brag about yourself on twitter, and make everyone else's life more difficult and get paid 6 figures to do so with amazing healthcare?

How depressing it is to think this is literally gonna take at least 14 to 22 years to become a full professor if it ever happens? I want to cry lol

 

Because you bought into those tenured professors telling you getting a tenured job was simple (disregarding the fact they did so in 1952 when Unis were showering money all around to attract professors) and you'd make a bunch of money and it would be fun so you'd join their ranks of cannon fodder?
