I read the religious conversion one too yesterday and I was shocked but I don't know why since there's a history of sketchiness. I had to wait months for IRB to approve me onto as a simple RA on a project to even access existing data but they were ok with these two studies like how?

 

Poor people can't sue (similar to why a LOT of questionable meta MTurk studies happen IMO.. what are those poor exploited Turkers going to do? Show up at a conference town hall and tell everyone how much of an ash hole I am??)
