Yea well I cook by myself....same as I do laundry and clean my house etc etc etc, so after picking up after everyone else some days I don't feel like I want to cook.

You should have seen the steak I cooked last year. It was salted so much that I would have survived for years, and the onions were completely black and crispy.

    I was very proud.

Sounds like you should get some family that wants to help and enjoys spending time with you. Cooking and cleaning is a great time to do something mindless physically while we engage eachother and laugh about the day.

But to my point sometimes I just need a break, I feel like my job never ends, from working on here, to my house work to all my other shit.

Totally agree. Cooking can be relaxing and fun. Yesterday I made it all on the grill outside because it was over 100 out there and I didn't want to invite any more heat into my house through cooking indoors. It was nice to just put it all in foil and check on it twice, lol.

However, Friday night we had food delivered and it fed us both Friday and Saturday and I was super happy to have a break from cooking after working all week and taking care of house stuff, etc. It is nice to have a night off every now and again where I don't have to cook :) And since the food fed us for two nights it ended up being about the same prices as if I had cooked it myself (surprisingly!)

I mean, your wife could sit in the same room as you and keep you company while you do the boring thing. I don't let my husband fold clothes because that never works well but he sits with me and keeps me company while I do it.
Sounds like you really need to get your children to take up their slack.

Try and teach them that these are the skills they need to survive on their own when they move out on their own. It sounds like they are ganna have a really bad time when their on their own weight.

I'm making like 8 lasagnas today and delivering them around like a deranged pasta fairy yayyyyy:emoji_grin:

I'm a solitary cook tho, hehe. Just personally. I like sharing my food with others, but cooking is my alone, zen time.

    This.

My 16 year old was out mowing our lawn early today because it was on his "expected to do" chores list and it will be above 100 again today so he realized he'd better get out there early unless he wanted to melt while mowing, lol.

I did have to remind him to check the gas level though. He ran it out of gas once and fouled my spark plug.

That sounds great in theory......my son has a real problem getting out of bed and he pushes back because he so badly wants to be in charge typical teen shit...

Daughter on the other hand she's nearly 17 and she acts like she's 5. She will not accept responsibility if you try to make her she will shut down and basically refuse. Even telling her she didn't do something right or asking her to do something differently will result in a pouting session.

Last night she flung her hair over the back of our new couch..it made our cat try to attack her hair, she was told not to do that cause we don't want him to claw our couch...this resulted in her basically telling us it's the cats fault not hers you know like he's a person that can understand reason. To which I said he's a cat, just do what you're asked, she went to her room acting all pissed off.

    This what I deal with.

My daughter literally won't do the chores on her list..when you tell her to she will ignore you or say ok then not do them...or she wants a special reward for doing what she's supposed to.

My kid has consequences if he doesn't. Consequences he doesn't want so...he does his chores.

Though, I started him on chores when he was in 1st grade so he does them even without threats because that's all he's ever known.

The consequences for not doing them are still out there, though, just in case he tries to pull a teenager on me. I will enforce without hesitation.
