I tore up all the mint out of the MILs garden for her because it had taken over. I was like man I would love this stuff and just dead ass stuck some into a pot of dirt and left it out in the rain. It's now happier then ever and I've only gone out to top it to make it bushier. I would never dare to put it in the dirt! I would have a yard of just mint in a month!

Mint in a container is awesome.

I have Rosemary that has taken over my side yard. It is MASSIVE. I just last weekend cut back at ginormous green garden wheelie container that the garbage company picks up and composts and I only got it 1/4 cut back.

Cutting rosemary sucks too as it spits juice on your that you then have to scrub off and even then it's still there days later.

But I love cooking with it and the smell of it so I won't take them out. I mean, doesn't everyone need four 4' high and at least that wide rosemary bushes?

I got this little mason jar full of rosemary cuttings that I need to pot up eventually. They have these long roots but I just never get around to planting it. Thanks for reminding me to not just stick that in the dirt either! How well does it take to overwintering?

 

You can stick it in dirt. It doesn't "spread" like mint. It can just grow into a huge bush.

I neglect the hell out of my rosemary bushes. I forget to water them for weeks when it's 100 plus out. They keep on thriving. And they survive freezes just fine. We don't get snow here but we have plenty of nights below freezing and it's fine. Mine is well established so like with any new plant take care the first year or two but after that? It's hearty. It WANTS TO LIVE!

And it makes a fantastic addition in a vase to any room. Super pretty smell and lasts a long time (as you have found, lol).

oh @purplepotato the seeds didn't get here in time for this season's crop, so we'lre going to try them next year.

 

I tried to start two varieties and had no luck
Don't bank on those as your only tomatoes I guess, but hope they work out!
