    So, JQuery is useful and makes things a lot easier, but it's also slower, so you get a performance hit with it you wouldn't otherwise have. A lot of people just use straight javascript to avoid that. Me, I'd rather get stabbed in the face with a rusty fork than code straight Javascript, so...you do what feels right to you ;)

    JQuery is a framework on top of javascript. It isn't used as much because its heavy and slower.

    Another thing I've noticed is sometimes JQuery has problems manipulating the DOM in ways that JavaScript doesn't, but that also could just be how new it is to me. I don't think I've done enough with my scripts to a point where I would even notice the difference in speed. I just like hearing other peoples' opinions, especially people who have been doing it longer than me. I'm starting to be able to write some good scripts but in the grand scheme of things I still have no idea what I'm doing.

    For small mturk scripts like scripting hits it won't matter speed wise. It's when your writing larger things like MTS that it makes a noticeable difference.
