Alrighty I have no dog in this fight, but your moms is living in a time that regularly calls into question what is likely a large part of her world view / core self. That's hard stuff to reconcile, I imagine even worse at that age. I'm not a psychologist, but my top down view of the conspiracy stuff is that a sad, sad bunch of it is born out of insane pain/suffering/fear. I'm always down to write off random nutters on the interwebs, but if it's someone important in your life all you can do is connect on the same level that the conspiracy stuff is speaking to and replace it IMO. And as someone who rejects human contact I'm also actually unqualified to even suggest that so lol. I'm only replying to this because I have something topical that I love and want to toss it your way in case it's helpful.



It's straight up one of my top-5 favorite TED talks ever. It's perfect (IMO) for what you're on. It's not "eff religion" it's "here's an allegory contextualized" in a great personalized presentation that A++ avoids all the religious stuff.

Any internet dipshit can google points in a 15 minute video and be like "ZOMG THIS IS WRONG AKSHUALLLY" but that's not the point. The dude is totally disarming. Might be the least intimidating person I've ever seen and you can watch the video from either side and be like "neat" and have a connection topic to go on.
