Comcast likes to tell me 99% of people will never use more than 1.2 TB's in a month and I think they're lying...I use 1.2 TB's in about 5 days.

    I can believe that, actually.

Most people Facebook, and Netflix. HD Netflix uses about 3GB of data every hour. The average American watched 4 hours of tv a day. 3GB of data times 4 hours is 12 GB. 12 GB a day times 30 is 360GB. You factor in browsing on the computer, and even if you hyperinflate the numbers to say 40GB from browsing and Facebook you're now at 400GB of data in a month. Am I missing something? Seems like a fairly reasonable claim to make.

The problem though is, if you have 4k tvs then it's more than 3 gbs, what if you have 4 people in your house? Also what if anyone in your home is a gamer? Things like digital downloads destroy data caps...

The internet being a main stream of everything is more common than ever I don't buy that people are browsing facebook and watching like 1 show on netflix a day anymore.

Now multiply by the other people in the house. Also, 4K is getting more common. That's about 40GB a day.

Even as a sports fan things like ESPN+ get play, there are so many stream options that top cable options for viewing now.

Why are you worried? Either you are in a non cap zone for comcast, buy a business line, or you pay the extra money for unlimited and download as much as you want.

I'm not really worried, I just think they are bullshitting people with their "99% of people don't use this much" I think it is a snapback at cord cutters in areas where they lack competition. It's no coincidence they don't have data caps on the east coast where fios is readily available everywhere.

If it wasn't for live sports, I wouldn't have cable. The TV sports packages are the same price as the streaming options and they work better, plus blackouts are annoying with stuff like NHL.tv

As soon as those exclusive contracts local sports channels get, I'm done with cable though.

I don't agree with data caps, but your question was in regards to whether or not the claim was true. I still think it's true. The cases you outlined above are far from the average household.

I got around that by knowing my parents login to their cable stuff so I can watch the channels through apps.

There's nothing you can do about it. Comcast also bribes the local governments so you are stuck in a monopoly situation unless you get dsl.

Sure, it's unfair but unless you start your own ISP by putting in your own fiber lines (which is actually happening near me), you are stuck with comcrap.

    CCP Lab [A1WSKAJH3W4OEL] Session 14/15 cognitive task and survey experiment.(~ 40 minutes) - $2.00 | PANDA

    Underpaid

    Unrated

    Unrated
    $3.66 / hour
    00:32:46 / completion time
    Pros:
    - $15 bonus for completing all 15 studies.
    - Chance of performance based bonus.
    Cons:
    - The bonus is basically impossible since you lose 25 cents for each wrong answer when the text is green -- 7 accidental errors on my part and there's no bonus.
