also agreed about the monitors in the article, that setup is very extravagant. hell, id consider any wallmount setup extravagant. the only computer ive owned for the past 6 years has been a 2014 retina macbook pro. it still works alright but the processor might be dying because games i used to play on this thing now run like molasses. im hoping that buying a macbook screwdriver set and manually removing dust solves it, because this problem has occurred before and that was the solution except i had to go to an apple store to do it, and the closest one to me is like 80 miles away

I would only ever run a computer without two monitors temporarily. The boost in production literally changes how you use a computer.

yeah i know, i used to have a dual-monitor setup back in the '00s, but since then i havent had a living space longer than 1.5 years before moving. when i get a long-term living situation i intend to at least get a desk and a monitor to hook up to my laptop, if not a new computer. the upside to a laptop tho is that i can do mturk from wherever i want and not worry about cellphone/tablet restrictions. also the lack of an integrated webcam in a PC can screw you over if you havent spent the extra money on one

I finally built my first dual monitor setup of all time and honestly I really like it. It's really useful for the way I turk. I also stream a lot and multi-task like an insane person and work on art projects and stuff while I turk so maybe that contributes to it. I'm a fan of making due do with what you've got too, trust me I've done that for years. I think for someone with, say, really bad ADD, a second monitor could be a nightmare. Sometimes I find myself forcing myself to focus on one thing at a time but I've been sort of training myself to get better at it and I'd argue there's an increase in productivity there somewhere.
