I...what?

The only part of that I understand is "gets hit in the nuts".

But, quite literally, it's one of a few different positions where the fielder is so close to the batsman that the chance of getting hit by a very fast and very hard ball is so high that you have to be quite silly to voluntarily stand there.

I promise you I am not making any of this up. It's a real position, and that's really why they call it "silly".
