And yes, I had a nerdgasm when they said it was gonna be proton therapy because I'm that big of a geek to know this stuff offhand. Plus, I was engaged to an RN for 8 years, and dated another for 3, and also worked in a hospital.

I'm the type of nerd who also knows enough physics to instinctively know how things work but can't write formulae with a gun to my head. Get me drunk one night and I'll tell you about how I think that Alcubierre's warp drive could be done without negative energy but would still need massive amounts of matter/anti-matter, pressurized osmium plasma, and focused energy density so that E=Mc2 could be graduated down to create a warped bubble of spacetime using warp nacelles..but they'd have to be designed with the inverse square law in mind or it'd rip to shreds like firing a Jello cup out of a Howitzer.
