I heard an idea that I wanted to try with my child if/when I have one.

It was something like prep a container of milk, a bowl, and cereal (if they eat that for breakfast) and show them where it's kept in the fridge/cabinets. Tell them that when they get up in the morning they can 'make' their own breakfast and to come get you when they are done. Something something independence, something something gets you and extra 15-30 minutes of sleep in the morning.

No idea how this would turn out but it stuck out as a cool idea to me! He sounds precious.

totally plausible up to the extra sleep part. No sleep. Did I mention I am forced to get up at 5:30 everyday, it’s hard to remember because I’ve been up since 5:30, did I mention that?

 

For a minute while reading your posts my heart/brain was like HAVE BABY NOW. And then I re-read that part the first time and I haven't thought about having one since. Holy shit. Maybe later, certainly not now lmfao.

Ahhh that sounds nice lol. We're in BFE and the only nearby family I just straight up don't trust to do things properly >.>

They pick up pretty quick. Precision is bad but even at almost 14mo ours puts dishes away from the dishwasher, climbs up her tower to help make her breakfast/lunch/dinner and is pretty good w/ most kitchen stuff already.

IME it's directly comparable to training any decent breed of dog. At this stage she has no real "free will" and just sucks in input and mimics it for output. If washing her own hair seems like the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life, she'll keep doing it.

No clue how to make that stick, because it sure didn't with me
